About this Site, Lobsters as Pets

So, a lobster isn’t going to be a “pet” but more like, a familiar specimen that lives 100+ years.

You know? I don’t figure on the lobster looking forward to seeing me, or playing hide-and-seek, or doing tricks like roll over.

And there’s bound to be a lot of upkeep. I bet they eat a LOT to grow like they do when they’re small (Under 13-14″)

There are cases of Lobsters as Pets wherein people got a Maine Lobster and tossed it into a fish tank and lucked out, the lobster was “okay” with “pretty good” marine water and adapted to a warmer room. Lucky.

My plan is to build my own home made chiller. Use a big acrylic tank and provide the lobster with a place to hide. Full spectrum lighting on a relatively short daylength. I’mma BIOSEED the tank with stuff from a friend’s saltwater tank. Water changes will be gradual trickle feed every so often.

More as we go!
